Change Virtual Desktop / Windows Password

If you don't use Virtual Desktop just follow the directions for the Local Desktop which will also change your Windows password.

  1. Click the Start Menu (Copper Cube)
  2. On the right side of the menu (at or near the bottom) click "Windows Security"
  3. Then Click "Change a Password"
  4. You will be prompted to put in your current (old) password and then a new password (twice.)
  5. If you are in the field the local PC password won't update (or sync) until you bring your laptop into a regional office so it can sync.  In the mean time you will have to use your old password to log onto your local PC.
  6. If you are in a regional office then your PC password should sync, but you may need to log off and back on (or lock / unlock) your PC.  Windows may prompt you to do this.
  7. If you have a "Kiosk" configuration then you don't have to worry about a password on the local PC.

Change Local PC Password / Windows Password

If you typically operate off of your Local PC in a regional office then you should follow these instructions.  If you use Virtual Desktop on occasion that is fine, changing it on your Local PC will change it there also. You must only do this while connected to Christman's internal network at a regional office.

  1. Press CTRL-ALT-DEL
  2. There will be an option to change your password.
  3. You will be prompted to put in your current (old) password and then a new password (twice.)

Note - Many of our systems use your Windows password for authentication and thus there is nothing to update with them.  For example, CuConnect, Barracuda Spam Firewall, YouCube/Panopto, ELP Resource Gateway, etc.

Vista / Viewpoint

  1. You should also update your Vista / Viewpoint password to match your Windows password.
  2. In Vista, select OPTIONS then choose the CHANGE PASSWORD option.
  3. Provide your old password and then plug-in your new password.

Mobile devices!

  1. iPhone / iPad
  2. Android based Phone

When you change your Windows password you mobile devices will not be able to send and receive new email, sync your calendar, etc. until you update your password on those devices also.

Update iPhone / iPad password

  1. Go into the device Settings
  2. From the top Settings menu locate and tap on Passwords & Accounts

  4. Tap on Account (it should show your Christman email address)
  5. Locate the PASSWORD field, tap the backspace button then type in your new password - then tap DONE.  You should see all fields with a check mark and then it will return back one screen.
  6. If you get an error message you probably typed in the wrong password, tap OK and try it again.

Update Android Password

**NOTE** Your phone settings may be slightly different, as Android phone manufacturers often customize the Android operating system for their particular handset.  The basic steps here should still be similar however.

  1. Go to your Settings (Droid Button => Settings, or locate Settings in your application drawer).
  2. Scroll down to the Personal section and press Accounts.
  3. Tap Microsoft Exchange type account (Your device may call it ActiveSync or just Exchange)
  4. Tap on Email Settings.
  5. Tap on your Christman email account
  6. Scroll down and tap Exchange Server Settings.
  7. Update your password to the current password and tap "Save".  This will verify the credentials and save the updated password.
