How do I set up Christman email on my Android based phone?
**NOTE** As of 2021 we support using the Microsoft Outlook app for all mobile devices. This gives a more standard look/feel across platforms, and is much easier to support. Using the native Android mail or GMail app is NOT supported by Christman IT.
- First, go to the Play Store and search for Outlook. Tap to install Microsoft Outlook.
- Once Outlook is installed, open it.
If you've already set up a Microsoft app on your device (such as Teams) then you may see 1 ACCOUNT FOUND at the bottom of the screen. If you do, tap that, then click ADD ACCOUNT, then tap MAYBE LATER on the screen to add another account. Skip to step 8.
- Tap GET STARTED or ADD ACCOUNT (which it shows may vary).
You'll be asked for your email address. Enter it and tap CONTINUE.
Enter your password and tap Sign in.
- When asked if you want to add another account, tap MAYBE LATER.
- Flip through the basic welcome screens, or tap SKIP to get to your mailbox.
One thing some users notice is that the Outlook app sorts mails differently than the desktop version does. You'll see in the upper-left area of the screen you'll see a toggle to view Focused or Other. The Focused Inbox is where Outlook sorts what it deems to be important emails, with the rest going to Other. If you decide you'd rather just see all the emails in the list like you're used to, you can disable the Focused Inbox by doing the following:
In the upper-left corner of the screen, tap the portrait icon next to Inbox.
Tap the gear icon in the lower left of the screen to go into the Settings.
Scroll down until you see Focused Inbox. You can tap the question mark to read more about what it is, or tap the slider to disable it.
- Tap the back arrow in the upper left to return to your mailbox.
