My Computer Goes to Sleep too Fast
If you step away from your computer and you have to wake it up every time you come back, you may want to consider changing your Power Plan.
- On your local desktop click the Windows button (typically at the bottom left hand corner on your taskbar) or press the Windows key on your keyboard.
- When the Windows menu pops up, type Power Plan in the search bar. When the search populates choose Edit Power Plan
- The next window that opens will allow you to modify the amount of time before your computer: Turns off the display or Puts the computer to sleep. This example was performed on a laptop, the choices could be slightly different on a desktop.
- Once you have made your changes, click the Save Changes button.
Please note - increasing the time your computer turns off the display or goes to sleep while on battery power can drastically reduce your run-time while on battery.
