My Computer has no Sound
Verify software volume control settings
First, check for a small speaker/sound icon in the Windows notification area (also known as the Systray), in the bottom right corner of the Windows desktop.
If this icon is there, left click it once to ensure the volume is turned up. A volume slider control should appear.
Please note, if you are using Virtual Desktop, you need to ensure the volume is turned up on your local PC as well as in Virtual Desktop!
If this sound/speaker icon is missing on your local PC, follow the steps below. If you have ensured the volume is turned up on both your local PC as well as Virtual Desktop, make sure your speakers are plugged in properly.
Windows 10 (make volume control show up)
- Right Click on some blank space on the Task Bar (where you see your running programs)
- Click Taskbar Settings
- Scroll down to "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" in the Notification Area.
- Locate "Volume" in the list, it should be near the top.
- Change the on/off slider to ON. You should instantly see the sound/speaker icon appear in the Systray.
- You can exit out of the Settings screen.
- Now click the sound/speaker icon and check and adjust the volume.
If this doesn't help you can try unplugging your speakers from your PC, laptop, or dock and plugging them into your SmartPhone's headphone jack. Then try to play music from your SmartPhone. If you hear music then your speakers are okay. If after plugging them back into your PC you still don't hear sound then put in a help ticket.
