MFA App Passwords
If you are using an app on your SmartPhone or iPad that does not support multi-factor-authentication (MFA), like the built-in mail/calendar app, then you may need to create a special “App Password”. These are passwords that you can use with these apps to bypass MFA.
You can create more than one password and it is recommended that you create a unique password per app per device. Technically you can use ONE for all your non-MFA apps and on multiple devices, but we strongly discourage that. If you lose your SmartPhone (for example) you will want to delete the App Password(s) you use for it. If you just have one App Password this would then affect all apps on all devices that you would have to re-setup. However, if you create one unique password per app and per device, then you can simply delete the password(s) used by just your SmartPhone.
Setting up App Passwords
Click CREATE

Give the App Password a name describing what you are creating it for. A suggestion would be to name the app and the device you are using it on.

Once you click NEXT your new App Password will be displayed. Please do NOT write it down or save it anywhere. Simply get out your device and key it in.

Once you key in the password wait about 10 seconds or so and make sure it is working. If it doesn’t the first try, wait a minute or so and try again. It may take a few minutes for the password to become active. Do not click the CLOSE button until you are sure the password is working. You can not go back in and view the password ever again once you hit CLOSE. However, if you do later find out it is not working, you can simply delete it, and create a new one.
We really don’t want these written down or saved and there isn’t much need to do so once it is working. Again, if something ends up not working, you can just create a new one…
Once you are all done then click CLOSE.
