Setup Multi-Factor-Authentication (using your iPhone or iPad)

This will setup Multi-Factor-Authentication (MFA) for your account if you only have a device like a SmartPhone and/or an iPad.  The verification method will be a phone call you answer and simply acknowledge by pressing the {#} key.

Read all the way through these instructions before tapping any links.  Once you tap the setup link you will be taken to the setup page and you won't be able to see these instructions, unless you switch back-and-forth (which you can do if you prefer).  If you have multiple devices, you may want to pull up these instructions on your other device or print them out.

If you have multiple devices, you only need to setup MFA once.  If you have an iPad that may be the better choice to use for this as the onscreen keyboard is easier to type on. You actually can do this process on a PC instead; if you have access to one. Once MFA is setup, it will work on all your devices.

  1. Start by tapping this SETUP link from your devicehttps://aka.ms/MFASetup
    1. You will most likely be asked to sign-in!
      1. Enter in your email address
      2. Enter in your password
      3. Tap [SIGN IN]
      4. If asked to save your password, you can tap "Save Password" if you want.  Either option is fine.
  2. You should see a screen with your email address on it that says "More information required"
    1. Tap [NEXT]
  3. You should see this screen below (If you see a "Security info" screen then you are already setup for MFA)
  4. Make sure the first box says “United States (+1)” like shown above.
    1. Enter in your 10-digit cell phone number.
    2. Note - your number may already be in there.  If there is a number in there, just verify it is correct and change it if needed.
    3. Select "Call me" and press [NEXT]
    4. Your authentication method will be tested!
      1. Answer the phone call (there will be an automated message), open the phone keypad, then press {#}.
      2. After a few seconds the screen should read "Call answered. Your phone was registered successfully" - if not, you may need to try again.
    5. Press [NEXT] once you have successfully verified your authentication method.
    6. You should get a "Success!" message - press [DONE]
    7. You should end up on a "Security Info" page.
  5. At this point you can setup other phone numbers to use for verification - but that is optional.
  6. You are all set up for MFA.  You can close the browser tab if you wish.

Whenever you setup anything NEW you may receive a MFA verification phone call, answer it and press {#}. You should not be asked to verify your MFA all the time; only when the system doesn't recognize a device or app.

If you get a call asking you to verify your login, AND YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING IT, do NOT verify it.  Let IT know that you got this call.
