Teams Quick Start 1-2-3 Guide

Just to get you rolling using the audio/video and chat features, here is a super easy quick start guide:

Initialize your Microsoft Account if you have never used it.

Watch a video on logging in the first time if you wish - click here

Download Teams to your PC and/or Phone/iPad

Launch the Teams setup app on your PC and/or Phone/iPad

  • Install should only take a minute or two, then you will be prompted for your "Sign-in address".  Plug in your Christman email address and password again.

That’s it for the installation.  

To ensure the Outlook Plug-in is fully installed you should reboot your computer.

Now: The quickest way to schedule a Teams Meeting

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Go to your Calendar
  3. Look for “New Teams Meeting” in the top ribbon bar. 
  4. Add a title, add attendees, date/time, etc. Just as you would any other meeting.
  5. You should see “Microsoft Teams meeting” join information in the notes area.
  6. Click SEND and you are all set. 
  7. Attendees do not have to have Teams installed to participate. 
  8. When it comes time for the meeting, you should see a JOIN option in your calendar.  If you don’t just open the meeting and click on the link.  

Do you want to chat with someone?  Or conduct an instant audio/video call?

  1. Open Teams.  If you can't find it, use the Windows search bar and search "Teams".  Or look in your Windows task tray. 
  2. Click on the CHAT icon in the upper left and then the New Chat icon.
  3. Start typing the name of someone you want to chat with.  Make it a group chat by adding more people. 
  4. Use the message box to type your message.
  5. If you want to call the person (or group) use the video camera or phone icons in the upper right.  
  6. You can use the sharing button to share your desktop and you can add more attendees using the last button shown above. 

Alternatively, you can use the CALLS icon on the left and start typing names in the Make A Call field.
