I’m expecting an email from someone and haven’t seen it yet
The email got filtered to your Junk E-mail folder. It may have been flagged as spam and filtered to your Junk E-mail folder. It's important to note that our old Barracuda system is completely separate from the CheckPoint Harmony system we're using now. Because of this, CheckPoint doesn't know anything about the senders you'd added to your Allowed List in Barracuda. It doesn't have a way to see those settings, and there's no way to automatically migrate that list into CheckPoint or your Outlook Safe Senders. So if you're expecting something, keep an eye on your Junk E-mail folder, as anything perceived as spam will be delivered there as soon as it comes in.
The sender did not use the correct email address. Sometimes it's as simple as the sender using christman.com instead of christmanco.com. Or maybe they still have an old email address on file (like @rentenbach.com or @medoconstruction.com).
The email got moved to another folder in your mailbox due to a rule. Sometimes folks use rules to filter emails to other folders, and sometimes those rules are broad enough that they catch other emails accidentally. Search your mailbox for any emails from the sender, for example typing from:user@company.com in the search box will search your entire mailbox for emails from user@company.com. If you're using the "New Outlook" view or using Outlook on the web, the results will even show you the folder the emails are in:
If you find the email is in a folder that you don't want it to be in, you'll probably want to look at your Outlook rules:
- In the ribbon across the top of Outlook (in the MOVE section) click on Rules and then select Manage Rules & Alerts.
- Look at the rules in the list. Do you see anything that is taking an action for the sender in question?
- Only rules with a check-mark are active.
- Click each rule (or use the keyboard up/down arrow keys) to view the actions for each rule.
- If you find a rule that is moving the messages, take notice of the criteria you selected to determine the email should be moved. You can either modify that criteria to be more specific, or if you don't need the rule any longer you can either uncheck it or delete it.
- The email got quarantined by CheckPoint. This is something you won't know immediately, and you'll need to wait until the next CheckPoint Spam Quarantine Summary email (sent at 7am, 11am, and 4pm Eastern every day). If you cannot wait for this email, please put in a helpdesk ticket and we can search the system.
